ADF: Blood of two civilians haunting Efang?Movement of unemployed PhD students stage sit-in in Tunis

General

Pro-government agents have rejoiced that the General Commander of the Ambazonia Defense Forces, ADF, a separatist group fighting for the independence of the North West and South West regions of Cameroon, self-styled General Efang, popularly known as ‘Big Number’ was allegedly killed in an ambush by members of Cameroon military, earlier this week.

This information was debunked on Friday by the media wing of the Separatist group, Ambazonia Governing Council.

The attack on the camp of General Efeng, happened three weeks after a prominent fighter, General Saviour surrendered to the Cameroon military.

A former ADF Deputy Commander, Capo Daniel, who is now the founder of the Ambazonian People’s Advocacy Platform, said he had warned that the General should be careful, but he doubted their security because they had executed innocent people in Guzang. Though Capo said General Efang had died and been replaced by General Capo, the group has debunked these claims.

In October 2023, ADF fighters summarily executed two
civilians, alleging that they were spies working for the government of Cameroon. Capo in an outing said the blood of these ‘innocent’ men has been haunting the ADF, whose fief is well grounded in Batibo, Momo division in the North West region.

He also said the killing Momo SDO condemns arbitrary killing of two civilians in Guzang – Cameroon News Agency pushed the civilians to reveal the hideouts of the Ambazonian fighters for elimination.

The movement of unemployed Tunisian doctoral students staged a sit-in in front of the Tunis Municipal Theatre on Saturday to protest against “the government’s delay in responding to their demands and its lack of responsiveness to the recruitment of unemployed doctoral students”.

The movement is demanding the implementation of legislative measures to regularise the situation of unemployed doctoral students, coordinator Meriem Dziri told TAP.

Dziri explained that the Unemployed PhD Students’ Movement decided to stage this sit-in to appeal to the President of the Republic to intervene and bring justice to the unemployed PhD students.

The protesters demanded a radical change in the recruitment system in higher education institutions, opting for a new formula of fair and transparent competitions, the separation of higher education and research, the digitalisation of competitions and the establishment of a legal mechanism for financing training and research projects.
