Police in Nanyuki, Laikipia County have seized bhang worth Sh5 million and arrested two suspects.
Confirming the incident, Laikipia County Police Commander John Nyoike revealed that the bhang consignment was on transit from Tanzania to an unknown place in Meru in a vehicle registration number KCZ 858 R, a Toyota Fielder model on Saturday.
‘Our police officers while on operation, through a tip off from members of the public were able to make an arrest and seize bhang that was being transported to an unknown place in Meru. Police netted 50 packages with a street value of Sh5 million,’ said Nyoike.
The vehicle driver and one other occupant identified as David Othiambo and John Okech were also arrested and taken to Nanyuki police station waiting to be arraigned in court on Monday.
‘After conducting the search, the police discovered some packages, each containing four dried bales of cannabis sativa, we will continue carrying out investigations to establish the target market,’ said the police commander.

e warned those involved in illegal businesses that their days were numbered and declared that authorities were on high alert to dismantle the cartels.
He further thanked the members of the public for volunteering to give credible information that led to the arrest of the suspects and seizure of the bhang consignment.
