Beja: The strawberry harvest in the Ouechtata locality in Nefza delegation (Beja governorate) has kicked off a few days ago, the representative of the agricultural development grouping in Nefza told TAP.
The region accounts for about 90% of the strawberry production in the governorate of Beja, where the harvest this season is expected to exceed 1,100 tonnes, a sizeable increase on the previous year.
This rise in production is due to an increase in the area devoted to strawberry cultivation, from 17 hectares last season to 26 hectares this season.
It is also due to improved weather conditions and higher rainfall quantities this year.
