Bizerte-Menzel Bourguiba port shows signs of recovery

General

Commercial traffic in Bizerte-Menzel Bourguiba port started resuming its normal pace in early 2024.

Thirteen ships arrived in or departed from the port in the first ten days of February, the latest being one which docked Sunday. It was loaded with over 13,000 tonnes of nitrogen fertilisers for the warehouses of the Tunisian Chemical Group.

The progressive resumption of port activities helped businesses operating in ship repair and the unloading of goods for the local market (sugar, grain and fertilisers) survive.

The activity of the port was suspended over a fire that broke out on July 26, 2023, before resuming in late November.
