Burkina Faso will carry out a general census of companies of all categories, established throughout the national territory as well as NGOs and associations during the period from August 15 to December 20, 2024.

The census launch ceremony took place took place this Thursday in Ouagadougou under the chairmanship of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Vieux Abdoul Rachid Soulama.

The operation concerns all economic units established on the national territory and carrying out their activity in a premises or developed site. These include the economic entities mainly targeted, including informal businesses operating in fixed premises, formal private businesses, State Public Establishments (EPE) carrying out commercial activities, State Companies as well as NGOs. and associations etc.

The main information that will be collected by the investigators will relate to the location of the unit, the date of creation, the legal form, the mode of acquisition, the type of accounting used, the poss
ession of an IFU number, a CNSS identification number, share capital, jobs and staff of the unit etc.

Markets and Yaars, itinerant economic units, non-modern agricultural units, non-market (EPE), central and decentralized administrations as well as diplomatic and consular missions, are not concerned by this census.

The general business census aims to draw up a precise and exhaustive inventory of all economic units operating on the national territory with a view to constituting a directory of economic units but also to produce reliable and up-to-date data on the national entrepreneurial fabric.
