Chinese investment in Sub-Saharan Africa under the Belt and Road Initiative reached $4.03 billion in the first half of 2023. This is a 130% increase over the same period of 2022 , according to a report published on August 1. The region also recorded a 69% increase in the value of infrastructure construction contracts for an amount of 6.29 billion between January 1 and June 30, 2023.
