The Djerid Experience initiative was launched on Friday at a working session held at the Tourism and Handicrafts Ministry headquarters, in the presence of officials from the department, the National Office of Tunisian Tourism, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, representatives of GIZ, professional tourism federations and of festivals and cultural and sporting events in southern Tunisia, etc.
Djerid Experience is an innovative initiative bringing together local, regional, national and international festivals, as well as cultural, sporting, entertainment and leisure events in the Tozeur, Djerid and Nefta regions, according to a department press release on Saturday.
The goal is to offer unique, immersive experiences for visitors from Tunisia and abroad.
All of these events will be governed by a collective structure that will facilitate the coordination and involvement of all of the stakeholders in their organisation, thereby fostering the emergence of a dynamic that will promote the Tozeur region as a global tourist destination.
Djerid Experience is supported by the Promotion of Sustainable Tourism project, initiated by the Tourism Ministry with the support of GIZ and jointly funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union, as part of the Tounes Wijhetouna – ÊæäÓ æÌåÊäÇ programme.
