The General Delegate (DG) of the Ouagadougou Pan-African Cinema and Television Festival (FESPACO) Moussa Alex Sawadogo hosted a press conference on Thursday in Ouagadougou to give the status of preparations for the biennial of African cinema, with 349 films registered in the call for films, noted the AIB.

According to the CEO of Fespaco, 349 films in all categories are registered in the call for films out of a thousand expected. He found these registrations slow and calls on directors to register productions even if they are not completely completed. The registration deadline is September 30, 2024.

Of the 349 films there are 57 feature-length fiction films, 89 feature-length documentaries, 125 short fiction films, 33 short documentaries, 13 film school films, 21 television series and 11 animated films.

Burkina Faso has entered 8 films including a feature-length fiction film, four short fiction films, two short documentary films and a television series.

The CEO of Fespaco also mentioned that the call for a
ccreditation is open with 33 nationals and 56 internationals already registered. He calls for people to register quickly so as not to put pressure on themselves at the last minute. The registration deadline is December 31, 2024.

The call for registrations for the Yennenga Academy’, ‘Yennenga Post-production’ and ‘Yennenga Coproduction’ is also open, without forgetting the MICA (International African Cinema Market) and the call for communications on the theme of publishing.

The International Selection Committee is also set up where we find Mohamed Saïd Ouma (They Comoros), Enoka Julien Ayemba (Cameroon), Hawa Essuman (Ghana), Farah Clémentine Dramani (Niger), Lina Chabanne (Tunisia), Janaina Oliveira ( Brazil), Habibou Zoungrana (Burkina Faso), Pedro Pimenta (Mozambique), Guy Désiré Yaméogo (Burkina Faso).
