Governor Ntutu commissions Sh100 million projects

General

The projects include 14 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classrooms, two fully equipped maternity wings, and two boreholes that the community had prioritised in public participation forums.

Schools that have benefited are Nkurumet, Katet, Ilmotiok, Olamerikai, Kutete, Lepolos, Kilanda, Muruga, Sikirarr, Ringwa, Timbililwet, Imenuet, and Oldany ECDE centres.

Governor Ntutu said the classrooms are fully equipped and conducive to learning among the ECDE children and will help cope with the fast-growing population of the schools.

‘School-going children can now enjoy more space for fun activities and attend classes regularly as a result of shorter distances to and from school, as well as improved cognitive abilities necessitated by a comfortable and conducive learning environment,’ he said.

The maternities were built in Mulot dispensary and Ilmotiok dispensary, bringing maternity services closer to the residents who used to travel far distances for maternity services.

‘The two maternity blocks are
the first public maternity wings in the ward. The residents now have an opportunity to access the much-needed maternity services at affordable rates,’ he said, adding that the residents will no longer have to travel to Longisa and Narok town to seek maternity services.

The water projects were opened at Ilmotiok primary school and Nkorinkorri borehole to offer clean and safe water for both domestic and industrial use.

‘The borehole is a game changer in the community as far as clean water is concerned. For several years, the community has been relying on water from the nearest dam for domestic and livestock use. Clean and easily accessible water was a dream in this area,’ he said.

Governor Ntutu challenged the residents to hold all their elected leaders accountable for all the public funds so they could manage revenues better in order to improve the lives of the residents.

Ntutu challenged young people to join the Technical Training Institute in the area to have professional qualifications in their field of
interest. Courses offered include catering, tailoring, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and plumping.

‘We have a TTI here in Ilmotiok, but I am told the enrollment is very low. Those who enrol will be given a county bursary of Sh15, 000 each to support their studies,’ he said.
