The MP said the buses bought using funds from the Constituency NG-CDF Kitty were meant to facilitate students to attend education tours, sports, and any other academic needs that may arise in the schools.

The MP said his effort in education, in concert with other education stakeholders, has seen schools in Kasipul constituency take the lead in Homa Bay County in the KCSE examination.

The buses bought during the financial year 2023-2024 at a cost of Sh8 million each went to Kalando and Sino SDA Mixed Secondary Schools and Rachuonyo Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in what the MP termed as a special request by the institution.

Governor Wanga, who was the main guest during the event held at Agoro Sare Primary School grounds, flagged off the buses.

The governor said her government is working closely with the national government to improve education standards in the county.

Governor Wanga said since the last financial year, she has started a programme to upgrade ECD centres in every ward, saying she targ
ets to build 160 ECD classrooms in the next two years.

The governor said when she came into office, she found the ECD classes deplorable but promised the situation is now changing.

The number of buses distributed to schools since 2017 now stands at 15, according to CDF chairman Ronny Rapemo.

Among the secondary schools that have benefited from this programme are Karabok, Agoro Sare, Nyalenda, Kosele, Dol, Nyagoa, and Kachieng, all mixed.

Others are Ochwando mixed, Obisa, St. Peters Kotieno, and Nyandiwa secondary schools.

‘There are other ongoing laboratory projects worth Sh5 million each in Nyalenda Secondary, Agoro Sare Mixed, and Karabok Mixed,’ he said.

All education stakeholders were asked to continue to work together to develop the education sector in the constituency.
