Residents of Pulunga village in Narok Central subcounty are a happy lot after the State, through the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), completed the upgrading of Kims Breeze-Pulunga road to bitumen standards.
The road that was opened for motorists use a week ago is a big relief for the residents, as they can now access Narok town with ease, unlike previously.
Joseph Sadera, a resident of the Pulunga area, lauded the government for completing the project, saying the new development will attract more investors in the area and hence boost the economy and living standards of the residents.
‘The road was dusty during dry spells and impassable during rainy seasons. Now we are happy because the government has moved fast to complete this project that began in 2020,’ he said.
Another resident, Joyce Naeni, observed that the population in the area will increase as people are attracted to developed places.
Ms. Naeni called on residents to support the current government as they deliver services to Wananchi, sayin
g the completion of the road was a good testament that the government cares about citizens.
‘We were afraid that some projects like these would flop when the Financial bill 2024 was dropped, but we are grateful that the road has been completed and is open for use,’ she said.
The seven-kilometre stretch of road construction began in 2020 and is expected to be completed by February 2022 at a cost of Sh. 680 million.
However, the construction process was halted along the way, which made the people give up on the project.
The people’s hope was restored mid this year when the constructor, Sinoe Construction Limited, resumed the site and completed the construction of the vital road.
The construction work entailed constructing a two-meter-wide footpath on either side of the road, constructing drainage, and putting up streetlights along the road.
The road is expected to ease transportation and movement of goods to the town market, besides enabling children from Pulunga Primary School to get to school early.
