The Ghomrassen Heritage Preservation Association (French: ASPG) and the company “South Tunisia Adventures” celebrated on Thursday the inauguration of cycling and walking trails in Ghomrassen, in collaboration with the Ghomrassen commune and the “Promotion of Sustainable Tourism” project. These trails have been meticulously designed, with prominent signposting and the provision of promotional and informative material to encourage tourists to explore the park’s trails and visit the region. It is worth noting that the official launch of these trails took place in July 2023, with the aim of diversifying the tourist offer around the “Star Wars” filming location of Ksar Hdada, a prominent stop on the cinematic route. These initiatives aim to attract adventurous and culturally curious visitors by encouraging them to experience five walking trails and five cycling routes. These routes take visitors close to fascinating historical and geological sites and offer a unique opportunity to discover the rich diversity of the region. The Ghomrassen cycling and walking trails are a collaborative effort supported by the “Promotion of Sustainable Tourism” project, which is overseen by the Ministry of Tourism with support from GIZ and co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union as part of its “Tounes Wijhetouna” programme.
