A ministerial working session chaired by Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani on Wednesday at the Kasbah decided to introduce amendments to the draft law to support financial inclusion.
A final version will be redrafted and submitted to the Cabinet meeting as soon as possible to facilitate access to the financial sector in order to maintain social inclusion, according to a statement from the Prime Ministry.
The draft law concerns the diversification of financial services provided to low-income groups, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, solidarity and social economy institutions to meet their needs, as well as the strengthening of supervision by the relevant regulatory bodies and the protection of customers.
The draft law has five main axes: improving access to and use of financial products and services, protecting consumers of financial services, consolidating financial education, and strengthening the supervisory role of regulators.
It also provides for strengthening the governance of the national strat
egy to promote financial inclusion and proposes measures to rationalise cash transactions and support digital financial inclusion.
The ministerial meeting was attended by Minister of Finance, Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia, Minister of Trade and Export Development, Kalthoum Ben Rejeb Guezzah, Minister of Communication Technologies, Nizar Ben Neji, and Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, Marouane El Abassi.
