The national production of crude oil stood at 1443 kilotonnes (kt) at the end of November 2023, down 5% compared to the end of November 2022, according to the monthly report on the energy situation for November 2023 published by the National Observatory of Energy and Mines on Monday.

This decline affected most of the major fields, in particular Halk el Manzel, which started production in 2021 (-36%), El Borma (-16%), Ashtart (-13%), Ouedzar (-41%), M.L.D. (-28%), Cherouq (-15%), Miskar (-14%) and Fanig/Bag/Tarfa (-18%).

According to the Observatory, the average daily oil production fell from 35.4 thousand barrels per day at the end of November 2022 to 33.7 thousand barrels per day at the end of November 2023.

Natural gas resources decrease 8%

According to the Observatory, natural gas resources (national production and fiscal package) reached 2432 ktoe
at the end of November 2023, a decrease of 8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The production of dry commercial gas went down by 10% and the fee for the passage of Algerian gas recorded a decrease of 3% at the end of November 2023 compared to the end of November 2022, standing at 922 ktoe.

Furthermore, the breakdown of the total fee between the fee allocated to the STEG and the export fee shows that the majority is allocated to the STEG (69%).

Regarding natural gas imports, the Observatory noted that purchases of Algerian gas increased by 2% between the end of November 2022 and the end of November 2023, reaching 2217 ktoe.
