Bandari FC completed their FKF Premier League first-leg matches by beating bottom-placed Nzoia Sugar FC 1-0.

Before a home crowd, Bandari’s lone goal was scored by Umar Kasumba in the 26th minute when he headed the ball into the opponent’s net, assisted by James Kinyanjui.

The exciting match took place at the KPA Mbaraki Sports Club on Saturday.

Bandari FC Tactician John Baraza was elated with the way his players approached the game according to his instructions.

Baraza said that the victory gave his team hope because their main ambition

for the season is to clinch the FKF Premier League title for the first time in their history.

‘We are going to sign two or three new players to fill the gap of the seriously injured players and ensure we reach our goal for this season,’ Baraza said when asked if they would sign anyone during the January transfer window.

On his part, Nzoia Sugar FC Coach Godfrey Oduor, was delighted with his players’ perseverance in the weather in Mombasa, as well as how they played ag
ainst a team with high-quality players.

‘The home team created two chances, converting one, while we created numerous chances but failed to convert any. That was what made the difference in today’s game,’ he explained.

Oduor added that they would not be able to buy any players due to financial constraints but would wish to sign young players from the lower leagues to help them in their fight against relegation.

Nominated Senator Miraj Abdillahi, and Bandari officials including Vice Chairman Twaha Mbarak, and acting CEO Tony Kibwana were in attendance.

With the victory, Bandari FC has moved to fourth place having 29 points from 17 matches, while for Nzoia, the loss meant they would remain at the bottom of the table with 13 points after having played the same number of games.
