President of the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies (FTAV), Ahmed Bettaieb, said on Sunday in Tozeur that the federation is working to extend the operating period of the new Tozeur-Paris air route, due to be launched on October 30, until May 31, 2024 so that the region can benefit from it. This new route will be operated by the French airline Transavia, with two return flights a week between Paris and Tozeur, he told a meeting of the Federation’s Council. He pointed out that the Tozeur region is a gateway to the Sahara and contributes to the influx of tourists from places such as Douz and others. Speaking to TAP, Bettaieb pointed out that the meeting of the National Council of the Federation made it possible to discuss ways to ensure the success of this line and the possibility of creating other lines for the region in order to promote tourism in the Sahara. He went on to say that the resumption of services on this route coincides with the winter tourist season in the Sahara, which looks promising and will contribute to the economic dynamism of the country, particularly with the implementation of favourable measures, including the intensification of domestic routes (three times a week). He stressed the importance of opening up air routes in the region in order to attract tourists from various countries, including the German market.
