Prime Minister Najla Bouden called for devising a vision to harness the spaces of the National Handicrafts Office (ONAT) in order to improve its services and develop them, while providing an exhibition space in the capital to promote handicrafts and boost their marketing, said the Prime Ministry in a press release on Saturday.

Bouden underlined during her visit on Saturday to the office in this regard, the importance of proceeding according to the circular economy model as an incentive to further control resources and preserve the environment, as well as carrying out a pilot project at the Denden “Hub design.”

She stressed the need to exploit new technologies to preserve the craft heritage and develop the sector, notably in terms of product quality and marketing, through e-commerce.

Bouden pointed out the need to revise the law establishing the ONAT in line with its missions and to provide the necessary means to continue its activity, underlining the importance of revising and amending the legal texts governing the sector to make them compliant with its requirements.

Accompanied by Tourism Minister Moez Belhassine, the PM was briefed about the Office’s programmes and projects, and its role in supervising the craft workforce, with a view to facilitating the creation of projects, encouraging private initiative and assisting in the creation and marketing of products.
