Poet and literary critic Mohamed Ghozzi passes away

Renowned Arabic poet and literary critic Mohamed Ghozzi passed away on Thursday, at the age of 74.

A prolific poet and scholar, Ghozzi authored numerous collections of poetry and conducted extensive research in the fields of literature and poetry.

He received several prestigious Tunisian and Arab literary awards, including the Abou Al Kacem Chebbi Prize, the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity, the Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature, and the Prize of the Tunis International Book Fair (FILT).

A former member of the Union of Arab Writers, Ghozzi served on the jury for several national poetry and criticism awards. He was also a member of the editorial board of “Al Hayat Athakafiyah”, a cultural journal published by the Ministry of Culture, and the advisory board of “Adab Al Qayrawan”, a journal published by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Kairouan.

The late poet was known for producing cultural programmes for national radio and television. His contributions spanned the fields of litera
ture, science and cultural journalism, leaving an indelible mark on the Arab literary landscape.
