Preparations In Top Gear For Mashujaa Celebrations To Be Held In Kericho

The National Celebrations Committee led by the Ministry of Interior and National Administration Principal Administrative Secretary Anne Ngétich have made a visit to Kericho County to assess various venues as preparations for the 2023 National Mashujaa celebrations kicks off in earnest.

The team that included officials from the office of the president, the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), the military, and other state departments, visited the Kericho Green Stadium, the Kericho County Commissioner’s official residence, the Kerenga Airstrip, Kapkatet stadium and the Bureti Deputy County Commissioner’s official residence in Litein.

Ms. Nge’tich and the technical committee held consultations with the Kericho County Governor Dr. Eric Mutai, Kericho County Commissioner Mr. Michael Lesimam and the County security team as part of the preparations for the Mashujaa Day to be held on October 20, 2023 in the county.

The Principal Administrative Secretary however said at the preliminary stage of the preparations, the team would remain non-committal on the exact venue between Kapkatet grounds and Kericho Green stadium but assured the residents that the technical committee would make a conclusive decision after considering other factors for the suitability of the venue.

‘We are assuring the members of Public that Kericho will definitely host this year’s Mashujaa celebrations however the technical committee will decide whether the venue will be at Kapkatet grounds or the Green Stadium and we will uphold the standards of the national celebrations,’ stressed Ms. Ng’etich.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Kericho County Governor Dr. Eric Mutai said he held a robust conversation on how Kericho stood to benefit from hosting the national event.

‘We urge the players in the trade and hospitality industry to seize the opportunity and prepare well for this day which Kericho is honoured to host,’ said Dr. Mutai.

Kericho County renowned worldwide for its tasty tea is expected to receive a facelift ahead of the National Mashujaa day event which is celebrated in honour of Kenyan heroes and heroines both alive and those who have died for their immense contribution to the Country in different sector.
