“Qawafel”, a project to promote internationalisation of Tunisian companies in Africa

The “Qawafel” project aims to support the internationalisation of Tunisian companies, startups, VSEs and SMEs throughout the African continent, particularly in four countries, namely Kenya, Mauritania, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mazen Al Kassem, head of this project and Expert France, Senior Key Expert Innovation and Entrepreneurship, told TAP news agency.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of the Tunisia Franchise Show, held in Tunis on February 15 and 16.

“The project launched in May 2023 for a period of 36 month and financed to the tune of pound 3.8 million euros aims to support the internationalisation of the Tunisian private sector through a series of activities, including building their skills, facilitating their access to the four markets and monitoring the contracts signed in the target markets.”

He added that the ‘aim is also to promote Tunisia’s visibility and know-how on the African continent and to help improve Tunisia’s institutional and regulatory environ
ment for internationalisation.”

It is very important for Tunisian companies to be able to sell franchises on the African continent, which is a huge market with a lot of potential compared to the Western market, he said.

During the Tunisia Franchise Show, WeFranchise signed agreements with 8 Tunisian Chambers of Commerce and Industry to promote franchising in the regions.
