Quality interventions for migrant families in Tunisia, focus on school dropout (OTE)

General

Quality interventions targeting remaining migrant families in Tunisia were planned, said the Office of Tunisians Abroad (French: OTE), as part of a psychological and social support programme geared towards migrant children.

Efforts are focused on reducing the school dropout rate among migrant children and raising awareness about the dangers of illegal migration, the OTE said.

Studies showed that “areas of high migration post the highest rates of child labour and school dropout,” it added.

A working session was jointly organised by the OTE office in Mahdia and the Defence and Social Integration Centre (French: CDIS) in Ksour Essef to organise an event on World Day against Child Labour.

An agreement was signed which provides for holding training sessions for migrant families on the dangers of illegal migration and early school leaving.
