Reported investment in industry up 8.4% (APII)

Tunis: The number of declared projects in industry has risen by 8.4% during the first four months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

This brings about a total investment of TND 803 million and 12,232 reported job positions, according to statistics released by the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII) Wednesday.

The number of projects declared under new creations went up by 15.5%, while foreign partnership investments in the industrial sector grew by 14%, to a total of TND 203.2 million, from TND 178.3 million in 2023.

Investment intentions in service activities soared 54.5%, to TND 378.6 million during the first four months of 2024, from TND 245.1 million in the same period in 2023.

The number of declared projects has increased from 3,080 to 4,175 in 2023, up 35.6%, with job creation up 16.3% to 12,109 positions.

As for industry-related services, reported investments picked up by 7.2%, coupled with a 66.2% surge in foreign partnership investments. Investments from the fully
export-oriented scheme in service activities have increased by 54.4%.

Industrial sector exports have climbed to TND 19,141.6 million in 2024, from TND 18,507.3 million during the first four months of 2023, posting an increase of 3.4%.

Consequently, an industrial trade surplus has ensued during the first four months of 2024, with the industrial sector trade balance settling at TND 331 million, in contrast to a deficit of (TND -1039 million) during the same period in 2023.
