TRANSTU receives 1st consignment of ecological used buses at port of La Goulette

General

The Tunisian Transport Company (TRANSTU) took delivery of a first consignment of 300 used buses from the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) at the port of La Goulette, including 122 “IVECO IRISBUS” buses and 32 articulated buses.

These purchases are intended to increase the company’s bus fleet in preparation for the start of the school and university year in 2023-2024. A second delivery of 100 buses is scheduled for the end of October 2023. These buses will be environmentally friendly and suitable for the disabled.

Receiving the buses, Minister of Transport, Rabie Majidi, said they were an effective short-term solution to the problems of an insufficient fleet and to improve the quality of services.

The Minister said the funds will be used to implement the programme of new acquisitions aimed at promoting the public transport system as part of the strategic vision for the transport and logistics sector up to 2040.

He recalled the projects underway, including the completion of the RFR project, the renewal of the light metro, etc.

The Minister stressed that the choice of environmentally friendly buses was in line with the sector’s decision to move towards green and clean transport.
