Minister of Women, Family, Children and the Elderly Amel Belhaj Moussa and Secretary General of the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) Maha Ali discussed Tuesday ways to foster cooperation and share experiences in relation to programmes geared towards women and the family. This was as they met on the fringes of a regional meeting on the “Economic Participation of Women in the Arab World: Opportunities and Challenges,” held September 26-27 in Amman. Both officials agreed to exchange the findings of two studies in progress in Tunisia and Jordan on the economic cost of violence against women. The talk offered the opportunity to discuss the possibility of holding a conference to examine the recommendations of these two studies, reads a ministry press release. Belhaj Moussa outlined major economic empowerment programmes, mainly Raidet and the programme for the economic empowerment of mothers of potential dropouts.
