Health Minister Ali Mrabet underlined Tunisia’s commitment since 2019 to take part in consultations on mandatory vaccination against the human papillomavirus.

It is part of preparations to introduce this vaccine in the national vaccination schedule, he added.

Speaking at a conference on “Accelerating Efforts to Prevent Cervical Cancer related to Human Papillomavirus” held on the fringes of the 76th World Health Assembly, Mrabet pointed to Tunisia’s support for devising an international strategy to eradicate cervical cancer.

Tunisia lends the utmost importance to combating this disease and preventing it through early detection, he underlined.

The Health Ministry had decided to introduce the cervical vaccine into the national vaccination schedule since 2020 for girls aged between 12 and 14.
