Tunisia was voted on Tuesday a member of the Executive Board of the Council of Arab Transport Ministers for a two-year term spanning from October 2023 to October 2025. This decision was made during the 36th council meeting held in Alexandria, Egypt. Minister of Transport Rabie Majidi, actively participating in the proceedings of this session, reaffirmed Tunisia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. He emphasised the imperative of standing alongside the Palestinian people, who have demonstrated remarkable courage in the face of the brutal and barbaric aggression by the Zionist entity, particularly against the Gaza Strip. Regarding the role of the transportation sector, Majidi underscored its paramount importance in driving the Arab economy, enhancing commercial exchanges, and promoting inter-Arab tourism. In the same context, he emphasised that this sector confronts new challenges, notably in the areas of service quality, ecological and energy transition, as well as the necessity of implementing a clean and intelligent transportation system. “Arab nations are urged to expedite the procedures for implementing Arab agreements in various transportation domains, including land and maritime transport, as well as the utilisation of electronic platforms,” the Minister added.
