Dozens of Tunisians gathered in front of the United States embassy in Tunis on Sunday to condemn “this country’s blatant bias towards the occupation in its brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip”. Children, women, civil society and human rights activists took part in the demonstration called by the National Committee to Support the Resistance in Palestine, raising the Palestinian flag and pictures of the massacres committed by the occupation in Gaza. The demonstrators called for the expulsion of the US and French ambassadors, accusing their countries of participating in the aggression against the Palestinians and covering up the crimes of the occupation in the campaign of displacement and ethnic cleansing of the defenceless Palestinian people. They also called on the Arab rulers to take measures to stop the occupation’s massacres in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and to speed up the opening of border crossings to provide humanitarian and medical aid to the people of the Gaza Strip. The participants hailed the steadfastness and bravery of the Palestinian resistance in carrying out qualitative military operations in the face of an occupation army armed with the most powerful heavy weapons, advanced armour and aircraft, despite the suffocating land, sea and air blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip for more than 15 years. There was a heavy police presence in the square where the demonstration took place, securing the perimeter of the embassy and facilitating the movement of cars.
