UEMOA and security on the cover of Burkinabe newspapers

Burkinabe dailies comment on the installation of the new Director General of Security, Mahamadou Sana and the performance of Burkina Faso within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).

‘West African Economic and Monetary Union: Burkina Faso performs at over 86%,’ states the state daily Sidwaya on its front page.

According to the public newspaper, Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem of Tambèla, met yesterday Tuesday in Ouagadougou with the president of the commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), Abdoulaye Diop.

The state daily reports that Mr. Diop came to report to the head of the Burkinabe government on the results of the review on political reforms, programs and projects of the Union in 2023.

The oldest Burkinabe daily newspaper, L’Observateur Paalga, for its part, underlines that Burkina displays more than 86% of execution rate in terms of performances within the UEMOA.

The colleague reports that the new Minister of Security, the Divisional Commissioner of Police, Mahamadou Sana was installed yesterday Tuesday in Ouagadougou in his new functions by the Secretary General of the Government, Mathias Traoré.

The public newspaper Sidwaya maintains that the new head of Security, appointed on August 1, 2024 by decree, says he measures the weight of the responsibility that now weighs on his shoulders.

The same state daily notes that the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, addressed the staff of the presidency of Faso on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, during the flag-raising ceremony at the presidential palace in Koulouba.

On this occasion, Captain Traoré noted that “independence is not given, it is fought for.”

The Paalga Observer, for its part, focuses on the new attempt to destabilize the Transition.

By the way, he reveals that according to the President of Faso, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) are in complicity
with terrorists.
