Post: 22-year-old Bodaboda operator from Malaba appeals for medical support to undergo Kidney surgery

A 22-year-old Bodaboda operator diagnosed with kidney and liver failure is appealing to government and well-wishers to help raise Sh2 million for specialized operation at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.Denis Etyang who was abandoned by his family after they discovered his condition is now living at the mercy of his neighbours who have constantly been involved in monthly harambees to support his medication and upkeep.'I used to support myself when I was still a bodaboda operator, but ever since the sickness became chronic I depend on well-wishers,' narrated Etyang.'I sold my motorbike though it was like a drop in the ocean and now I am left alone. Please save my life,' he appealed.Etyang spends Sh50000 on drugs alone in a monthly situation that forced him to dispose of his motorbike though it only sustained him for two months.The neighbours led by Zacchaeus Papa and Benjamin Omukaka noted Denis needs urgent attention to save his life as he still has a promising future.'Etyang was de serted by his family members as a result of these monthly drugs. He has been fully sustained by the neighbours and well-wishers,' noted Omukaka.'That is why we are appealing for any well-wisher to support our brother to go for an operation at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital or India, through the paybill below,' he added.With doctors urging patients to go for early detection as a measure to prevent kidney disease, its progression and related complications, but numerous studies show that awareness of kidney disease at the population level is low.Source: Kenya News Agency
