The current situation of livestock, the need for fodder and suitable solutions to meet the growing demand for this material, especially during the summer season, were discussed at a meeting Saturday between Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Abdelmonem Belati and representatives of the National Chamber of Industrialists of Livestock Feed and Raw Materials Importers.
The meeting focused on the alternatives proposed to reduce the impact of the drought on livestock and avoid a shortage of fodder.
The Minister of Agriculture, who chaired the meeting, reiterated his ministry’s determination to develop a participatory work plan with all stakeholders in the sector in order to overcome the current difficulties and preserve the national herd and ensure the sustainability of the activities of small farmers and breeders.
For their part, the representatives of the National Chamber of Feed Manufacturers and Raw Material Importers expressed their willingness to support the State’s efforts to preserve the livestock population.
