The Apostolic Nuncio to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, Archbishop Jose Avelino Bettencourt appealed for children of the North West, South West, and Far North regions to be given a chance to go to school.The Vatican diplomat encouraged parents from the Numencleture in Yaounde ahead of 2024/2025 school resumptions set for September 9.Archbishop Jose Bettencourt wailed that over 17500 children according to World Bank statistics are being prevented from schooling in the three conflict-affected regions.'Violence is never justified. Violence comes from evil and only peace comes from God. This month of September, let us not prevent children from going to school,' he appealed.Citing a child, Peter, aged twelve once prevented from schooling as captured in a temporal exhibition at the Nunciature saying, 'Living in peace is so good, just to wake up and go to school without fear'.The Holy See representative in solidarity with other voices across the country, emphasized inspired by the words of Nelson Mandela that, 'education is the most powerful weapon which can change the world.'Source: Cameroon News Agency
