Arab-Islamic Art and Artistic Dialogue: Imitation of Nature, theme of lecture in Beit al-Hikma

Tunis: The Tunisian Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts Beit al-Hikma is organising an academic meeting on May 15 on Arab-Islamic art and artistic Dialogue.

A lecture on the theme: “Arab-Islamic Art and Artistic Dialogue: Imitation of Nature in Occident – Orient Exchange” will be given by Habib Bida, a researcher and professor of higher education at the Higher Institute of Beaux-Arts of Tunis.

The lecture explores the influence of the Arab-Islamic art on artistic dialogue between the Orient and the Occident, Beit al-Hikma said, while advancing the concept of art as imitation of nature.

This artistic journey will turn the spotlight, in its quest to further dig in this concept and its impact on creative philosophy, on such leading figures as Aristotle, Al-Tawhidi, Ikhwan al-Safa, Ibn Al-Bawab, Delacroix, Gauguin and Riley.
