Bomet: Officials from Bomet County Government have visited public medical facilities and water projects in Kirinyaga County to benchmark on service delivery. The delegation, led by County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Medical and Health Services Dr. Joseph Sitonik, toured the Kerugoya County Referral Hospital to learn how the county has managed to transform its healthcare sector.
According to Kenya News Agency, Dr. Sitonik acknowledged Kirinyaga as a leader in healthcare and water services, noting that significant improvements in health infrastructure and service delivery make it an ideal benchmarking destination. He emphasized the importance of counties collaborating to enhance service delivery and strengthen devolution.
Kirinyaga County has implemented innovative technology, including the Hospital Management Integrated System (HMIS), to ensure accountability and effective monitoring of its healthcare system. Bomet CECM for Water, Sanitation, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change Chepkuto Jepchirchir expressed interest in learning from Kirinyaga’s success in addressing water shortages.
Kirinyaga CEC for Medical Services, Public Health, Sanitation, and Medical Services Dr. George Karoki highlighted the visit as evidence of Kirinyaga’s successful health sector transformation. He noted the county’s substantial investments in infrastructural and service delivery reforms, which have established a robust healthcare system.
Waiguru commented that benchmarking visits from delegations of six counties indicated that devolved units recognized best practices to adopt in their respective regions.
