Post: BoulkiemdE/Sanitation: Modern Public Toilets in the Heart of Koudougou

Koudougou: A government delegation, led by the Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation, Roger Barro, officially handed over the keys to public toilets this Monday in Koudougou, in the Nando region, with a view to ensuring access to drinking water and sanitation for all by 2030.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Sanitation has taken another step forward in its goal of ensuring universal access to drinking water and sanitation by 2030. One of its most recent projects is the inauguration of new public infrastructure in Koudougou, an investment supported by several partners concerned about the well-being of communities.

Among the new achievements, the opening of modern public toilets in the city center of Koudougou, opposite the town hall, was particularly welcomed. Long faced with a lack of such facilities, the city is finally seeing a major challenge addressed. These new facilities, designed for men and women, are also accessible to people with reduced mobility.

These public toilets are equipped with a water supply system and run on solar energy, making them a model of sustainability. The President of the Special Delegation of Koudougou, AmEdEe ParE, enthusiastically welcomed this initiative, promising to ensure their proper use and expressing the hope of seeing such projects extended to other strategic locations in the city.

This inauguration is part of a series of initiatives carried out within the framework of the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Project (PEPA-MR). Thanks to this program, the localities of Zoula, Goundi and Koulkouldi, in the province of SanguiE, have also benefited from drinking water supply systems (AEPS) with water towers, more than thirty standpipes and nearly 300 private connections. These efforts demonstrate the Burkinabe government's commitment to sustainably improving access to water, hygiene and sanitation for all its citizens.
