Budapest Demographic Summit: Family Minister holds talks with her Qatari and Turkish counterparts

On the sidelines of the 5th Demographic Summit in Budapest, Hungary Minister of Family, Women, Children and the Elderly Amel Belhaj Moussa had a meeting with Qatari Minister of Social Development and Family Mariam Bint Ali Bin Nasser Al Misnad as well as with Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas.

Belhaj Moussa discussed ways to boost cooperation and consolidate partnership in areas related to family, women, children and the elderly, reads a statement of the ministry on Friday.

The meeting with the Qatari minister focused on ways to develop bilateral cooperation, strengthen joint action and increase the exchange of expertise in areas related to the fight of violence against women as well as economic empowerment programmes dedicated to low-income families and persons with specific needs.

The two ministers discussed their countries’ experiences in drafting laws that ensure the protection of families, women and children from violence as well as parenting and education programmes.

During her meeting with the Turkish minister, Moussa spoke of ways to develop bilateral cooperation and increase the exchange of expertise in areas related to family policies, the fight against domestic violence as well as the economic and social empowerment of young girls, women and low-income families.

The 5th Demographic Summit is held in Budapest, Hungary on September 14-16 under the theme of “Family is the key to security.”
