Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Crafts in Burkina Faso, led by Serge Poda, announced a significant milestone on Tuesday, revealing a 60.85% implementation rate of the objectives contract set by the Prime Minister for the year 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the contract outlined 12 priority actions with 60 activities expected in the first half of the year. As of June 30, 2025, more than half of these activities have been successfully completed, as indicated in the mid-term update provided by Minister Serge Poda. The primary focus was on combating commercial fraud, anti-competitive practices, and illegal price-fixing. In the industrial sector, progress included the revival of several industrial units, notably BRAFASO and MINOFA located in Banfora.
More than 11,000 new businesses have been authorized in the industrial sector, contributing to the revival of struggling private sector units. In the craft sector, the completion of work on the National Center for Supporting Artisanal Cotton Processing marks a significant achievement, with an official inauguration scheduled for the latter half of 2025.
In terms of governance, Minister Poda highlighted the 32nd session of the General Assembly of State-Owned Companies, which resulted in resolutions aimed at enhancing accountability and efficient management. For the second half of the year, the ministry plans to open several industrial units, including "Faso Rail," and operationalize the commercial unit "Faso Yaar," which is intended to provide consumer products at affordable prices.
Further support is also planned for craftspeople and leaders of industrial projects, ensuring continued progress toward the 2025 objectives.
