Ouagadougou: The launch ceremony of the second wave of the Faso Mebo Holiday Camp took place this Thursday at the Marien N'Gouabi High School. This camp, scheduled from September 10 to 20, 2025, aims to instill a sense of national pride in children through a combination of civic and military instruction.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the organizers have designed this second wave of Camp Vacances Faso Mebo to align with the inaugural session held from August 10 to 21, 2025. The camp's core mission is to nurture patriotism, civic responsibility, and an unwavering love for the country among the young participants.
To achieve these objectives, 700 campers will engage in various activities from September 10 to 20, 2025. These activities include military training, lessons in landscape and urban beautification, skills in making and laying paving stones, as well as recreational and community service activities, topped off with a tourist excursion.
The national coordinator of the Faso-Mebo Presidential Initiative, Ahmed Zoodnoma Sakande, emphasized the ongoing People's Progressive Revolution, expressing hope for a transformation in behavior and mindset among the children upon the camp's conclusion. He highlighted that future iterations of the camp would eventually reach all regions of Burkina Faso.
Addressing the campers, Mr. Sakande urged them to "love and serve the motherland, Burkina Faso," emphasizing the virtues of honesty, courage, and readiness to uphold justice, solidarity, and patriotism. He encouraged the campers, as the nation's future, to actively participate and absorb the lessons from the camp leaders.
"In a few years, you will be the ones carrying the flag of Burkina Faso high," Mr. Sakande stated, underscoring the importance of their role in building a strong and united nation.
