Post: Burkina: soon calcined clay produced locally to replace imported clinker in cement production

The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, on Thursday laid the first stone of the calcined clay production unit, an alternative material for the manufacture of cement in Burkina Faso. The Ciments d'Afrique group (CIMAF) will no longer import clinker for cement production. Calcined clay, an alternative raw material that will be produced on site, will be used in the coming days.Believing that the establishment of this factory is a perfect illustration of the country's industrialization policy, the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, congratulated CIMAF for the implementation of such a project.'Taking the raw material here in Burkina Faso and transforming it to produce cement for the people of Burkina Faso is all we want,' said the President of Faso.He also reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the country's industrial sector, a real factor in job creation, technology transfer and economic development. For President Traoré, Burkina remains committed to offering all the necessary fac ilities and guarantees to national and foreign actors who would like to participate in the development of our industrial sector.According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the CIMAF group, Anas Sefrioui, the construction of the calcined clay production unit will be coupled with that of a solar power plant, the surplus production of which will be donated to SONABEL.For him, the combination of these two projects should make it possible to improve the competitiveness of cement on the market thanks to the reduction of production costs, which will benefit the end consumer. The CEO also indicated that the realization of these two initiatives, whose total cost is 33 billion FCFA, is a sign of the vitality of relations between Burkina Faso and the Kingdom of Morocco. The Ciments d'Afrique group is a cement player that produces and markets cement in Africa. It has been present in 13 African countries, including Burkina Faso, since 2014.Source : Burkina Information Agency
