Cameron’s U20 Lionesses dominate Egypt 4-2 in World Cup qualifiers

Cameroon’s U20 Lionesses have taken a significant step towards qualifying for the 2024 FIFA Women’s World Cup after securing a 4-2 victory against Egypt’s U20 team in Alexandria.

The Lionesses got off to a strong start, with Lemana Sophie scoring the opening goal just 12 minutes in.

The lead only lasted a few minutes as Egypt quickly equalized from a penalty, before Lamine Mana put Cameroon back in the lead.

A few minutes later, another penalty from Egypt made it 2-2 at halftime but the Lionesses came out determined in the second half, scoring two goals through Lamine Mana and Kiki Meva to secure the win.

With a win in the first leg for Cameroon at Egypt’s backyard, the second leg comes up in Cameroon on January 21st and the winner will qualify for the 2024 U20 FIFA women’s World Cup in Colombia.

Egypt on the other hand beat Congo 7-1 on aggregate in the 3rd round qual
ifiers to make it into the 4th round qualifiers.
