The Samburu County Gender Sector Working Group has adopted a uniform reporting tool for Gender Based Violence in line with Kenya's commitment to the Generation Equality Forum (GEF).Speaking during a sensitization workshop for the Gender Based Violence (GBV) thematic group, Samburu county director for Gender Albert Wanjohi said that GEF is an international platform that seeks to accelerate the implementation of the gender equality commitments in the Beijing declaration and platform for action 1995.He added that GBV is one of GEF's six action coalitions and Kenya is a lead partner in the GBV coalition and it is therefore committed to ending all forms of GBV and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and accelerate action at the national and global level.'In this regard, the County Gender Sector Working Group GBV thematic group has come up with a uniform reporting template for highlighting the GEF's commitments made at the county level for onwards transmission to the national level.''The template which will be filled on a half year basis by various GBV stakeholders in Samburu county will outline the activities implemented, estimates of the utilised budget, expected outputs, means of verification and the challenges encountered,' the director said.Wanjohi noted that Kenya is obligated to report on the progress of the implementation of 12 concrete commitments it made at the GEF in Paris in June 2021.The commitments, among them establishing Gender-Based Violence recovery centres and shelters in all the 47 counties aim at increasing the momentum of ending all forms of GBV and FGM in Kenya by 2026.Apart from GBV the other six GEF's action coalitions include Economic justice and rights, Bodily autonomy and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), Feminist action for climate justice, Technology and innovation for Gender Equality and Feminist Movements and Leadership.Source: Kenya News Agency
