Post: County Sanitation Workers Receive New Equipment to Boost Hygiene Efforts

Vihiga: Sanitation workers from all sub-counties within Vihiga County have received new protective gear and tools in a renewed effort to enhance hygiene standards across the region. Each worker was issued a dust coat, gumboots, and gloves, while wheelbarrows were distributed to aid in waste collection and transportation.

According to Kenya News Agency, the distribution underscores the county's commitment to improving working conditions for sanitation staff and fostering a cleaner, healthier environment for residents. Speaking during the event held at Mbale Municipal Grounds, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Environment, Water, Energy, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, Onzere Mulongo, reaffirmed the government's dedication to promoting better sanitation practices.

Dr. Richard Boiyo, Chief Officer in the same department, urged workers to take responsibility for the equipment. 'This equipment is meant to support you in your work and enhance service delivery. Take good care of them, report to work promptly, and ensure the tools, especially the wheelbarrows, are properly maintained,' he emphasized.

The initiative, organized by the County Department of Environment, is part of broader efforts to uplift environmental sanitation and improve the well-being of both workers and the wider community.
