Trans nzoia: Over 150 budding entrepreneurs from Trans Nzoia County are set to receive training on financial literacy thanks to a new partnership between the county government and Britam Insurance Company. This initiative is part of the Nawiri Fund Programme.
According to Kenya News Agency, the agreement was announced by Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya following discussions with Britam Insurance representatives at the county headquarters. Governor Natembeya emphasized the importance of the training, stating that it arrives at an opportune moment for beneficiaries of the Nawiri kitty. The training is expected to significantly aid these young entrepreneurs in expanding their business ventures.
The programme will benefit approximately 150 young entrepreneurs from the county's 25 wards. These individuals are part of a broader group that has already benefited from the County government's Nawiri Programme. Launched in early 2024, the Nawiri Fund offers low-interest loans and has supported numerous youths, self-help, and vulnerable groups.
In addition to funding, the county has, in collaboration with partners, initiated training opportunities for the beneficiaries. Nawiri Fund Board Chairman Martin Waliaula expressed commitment to ensuring the success of the training exercise, acknowledging the positive impact of the Nawiri Fund from previous disbursements.
The meeting also included the presence of Trans Nzoia County Secretary Truphosa Amere, Public Service Management Chief Officer Philip Kapten, and Nawiri Fund board members.
