Post: CS Mvurya Champions Youth-Centered Leadership

Nairobi: Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Salim Mvurya officially welcomed the incoming Principal Secretary for Youth Affairs, Fikirini Jacobs, at Talanta Plaza, urging a transformative, youth-led approach driven by urgency, coordination, and purpose. "We are no longer discussing youth as a transitioning group; we are empowering them to lead from the front," Mvurya emphasized, highlighting the critical role of youth in the present, not just the future, and the necessity of creating an environment conducive to their success.

According to Kenya News Agency, during the handover-takeover ceremony at Talanta Plaza in Nairobi, Mvurya stressed the significance of the government's flagship initiative aimed at developing skills and improving employability for 800,000 youth. He called for robust interdepartmental collaboration to drive the project forward under Jacobs's leadership.

Mvurya also highlighted the urgency of preparing for the National Youth Council elections, emphasizing the importance of meaningful youth participation from local to national levels. He advocated for vibrant representation not only in politics but also in policy and governance, while also calling for synergy between youth affairs and sports, particularly in sectors like film, enterprise, and talent development.

Upon taking office, Jacobs promised a leadership style rooted in collaboration, openness, and empathy. In his first address, he noted that the outcome of departmental initiatives affects more than just the ministry, ultimately impacting the Presidency. Jacobs stressed the importance of creating a platform that supports programs and unlocks youth potential, describing Kenyan youth as a resilient yet underserved group.

Jacobs emphasized the need for leadership that blends professionalism with humanity, acknowledging the delicate nature of the youth population. He expressed his commitment to working closely with the staff, fostering continuous engagement, and ensuring a smooth transition into a more impactful and inclusive future for the department.
