Post: Cultural Actors in Ziro Enhance Understanding of Copyright and Tourism Fund

Ziro: Cultural and tourism stakeholders in Ziro province were provided with information on copyright, the Cultural and Tourism Development Fund (FDCT), and the Grant Application Evaluation Committee (CERS) on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in Sapouy. The meeting was chaired by the Provincial Director of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism (DPCCAT), Abdoulaye Kagambega.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the first provincial official in charge of culture in Ziro, Abdoulaye Kagambega, welcomed the mobilization of the actors which reflects a sign of commitment to cultural and tourism development. Mr. Kagambega recalled that this training session is part of the provincial directorate's program of activities, in accordance with its mission of providing advisory and technical support.

He also presented the context and the initiative while emphasizing that Burkina Faso has made the culture and tourism sector a strategic pillar for its socio-economic development and for the promotion of national identity. The Provincial Director of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (DPCCAT) clarified that the sector is facing major challenges such as low funding and investment.

According to him, the Ministry of Culture has put in place various mechanisms to deal with the difficulties facing the department. These include, among other things, support for creation, capacity building for stakeholders, and the artistic and tourist awareness of young people.

The Ziro DPCCAT also emphasized the need to propose innovative and relevant projects that are realistic, achievable, environmentally friendly, and aligned with the ministry's guidelines. Participants also learned about the frameworks of the Grant Application Evaluation Committee (CERS), the Cultural and Tourism Development Fund (FDCT), and the support application forms of the Burkinabe Copyright Office (BBDA).

Practical cases were presented during the discussions, along with responses to participants' concerns. Particular emphasis was placed on the tourism sector, which is considered lacking in momentum in the province despite its rich and varied potential. Abdoulaye Kagambega reassured participants of the provincial administration's availability to assist them in setting up projects and the need for advisory or technical support.

"We are leaving better equipped and better prepared to design cultural and tourism projects, but also to properly fill out the support request forms," ??confided cultural actress, Hazara Sawadogo. Isaac Koala, head of the BangrE Nooma music training center in Sapouy, echoed the same sentiment, expressing his satisfaction with the meeting.

"This training is welcome. We were in the field, but there was some information we didn't have, particularly regarding project financing. In the cultural and tourism sector, what tires us is finances," he said. And to conclude: "But through this training, we learned the different possibilities of having the support of the ministry. This training will help us a lot in our projects."
