Post: Cultural Show Marks India’s 79th Independence Day in Nairobi

Nairobi: The 79th anniversary of India's Independence Day was celebrated today, Friday, in Nairobi with cultural performances. This was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony to honor the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers at the War Memorial Cemetery. During the ceremony that was held at the India House in Nairobi, Acting High Commissioner to India Shri Sushil Prasad highlighted the historical ties between India and Kenya, emphasizing their close cooperation in regional and multilateral forums.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Acting High Commissioner stated, "Our developmental journey in Kenya has further seen the growth of India and the transformation that is not limited to just economic growth but includes people's empowerment." He noted that the two countries' cordial relationship is strengthened annually through cultural events, and acknowledged the integration of Indian and Kenyan cultures into society.

The Ag. Commissioner further explained the impact of technology and sustainable development models on creating opportunities for partnerships between the two nations. He highlighted progress in various sectors, including emerging technologies, science and technology, healthcare, and education.

Commissioner Sushil also emphasized India's standing as the world's fastest-growing large economy and a significant geopolitical player, attributing the nation's growth partly to the Indian diaspora's contributions. He mentioned the celebration of Indian festivals and the annual International Day of Yoga events as examples of cultural exchange and collaboration.

The Commissioner extended gratitude for the contributions to the India-Kenya partnership and expressed intentions to continue working together for mutual benefit. He underscored the importance of remembering the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the resolve to elevate both countries to new heights.
