Post: Deputy Inspector General of Police Assures Mandera County of Stable Security Situation

Mandera: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Eliud Lagat, accompanied by senior police officers from Nairobi, on Saturday visited Mandera County to assess the security situation in the region. During the visit, Mr. Lagat held a meeting with all senior security officials in the county, assuring residents that the overall security situation remains stable, with no significant incidents of insecurity reported in recent weeks.

According to Kenya News Agency, Mr. Lagat assured the people of Mandera that there is no cause for alarm. He emphasized that the county is stable and highlighted the absence of significant incidents of insecurity in recent weeks. He further noted that issues related to clan clashes have subsided and urged communities in volatile areas to uphold peace and the rule of law, stressing that every Kenyan had a right to live in peace regardless of where they reside.

Mr. Lagat underscored the responsibility of individuals to protect peace, warning that anyone attempting to disrupt it will be pursued and brought to justice. He reassured Mandera residents that individuals disrupting peace will be pursued and brought to justice.

During a closed session with police officers working in the area, Lagat acknowledged the importance of addressing welfare concerns, particularly mental health. He emphasized that the mental well-being of officers is key to effective policing and assured that these concerns will be addressed to ensure police are well-equipped, both physically and mentally, to serve the people of Mandera.
