Nyandarua: Deputy President Kithure Kindiki reassured residents of Nyandarua that the Kenya Kwanza government is committed to completing all its promised projects in the region before the year 2027. Kindiki made this announcement while launching the resumption of tarmacking of the 27.5-kilometer Tumaini-Gwa Kiongo-Kabazi road in the Ol Kalou constituency.
According to Kenya News Agency, the Deputy President emphasized the government's dedication to ensuring rapid completion of these projects, stating his intention to oversee progress personally. The road project, which will cost Sh1.1 billion, has resumed after the contractor, S.S Mehta, received pending payments. In addition to this project, the government plans to upgrade a total of 282 kilometers of roads within Nyandarua County.
Kindiki also revealed that Sh500 million has been allocated for immediate electrification efforts within the county, with an additional Sh1.6 billion earmarked for connecting 600,000 homes over the next two years. He assured residents that the completion of roads, electrification, and market projects is a priority and will be fulfilled before the 2027 deadline.
The Deputy President inspected the construction of a modern market in Gwa-Kiongo town, highlighting features such as cold storage rooms for perishable goods, a breastfeeding section for mothers, a boardroom for trader meetings, and a digital hub for digital work. Kindiki stressed the government's focus on fulfilling campaign promises, setting aside political distractions.
He also noted the recovery of the national economy from the impacts of Covid-19, marked by reduced costs of essential commodities like unga and fuel. Additionally, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wa, along with MPs George Gachagua and Kwenya Thuku, advised residents to support the current administration to maximize regional benefits.
