Post: DP Raises Sh35 Million for Women’s Empowerment in Homa Bay

Nairobi: Deputy President, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, has successfully raised Sh35 million for women empowerment programmes during a fundraiser at Sikri T.T.I in Homa Bay County. Prof. Kindiki emphasized the crucial role women play as the foundation of families and communities, stating the event was aimed at empowering them to strengthen their contributions.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Deputy President expressed his unwavering support for women, highlighting their impact through small businesses that support families, provide education, and secure futures. Prof. Kindiki assured Kenyans that the government's focus is on development across the country, avoiding divisive politics, and urged politicians to hold off on political engagements until 2027.

Prof. Kindiki announced that the government, led by President William Ruto, plans to revive stalled road projects and initiate new ones, alongside other infrastructural developments. In Homa Bay County, projects include a fresh produce and fish market, housing projects, vocational institutes, and an electricity connection program, with a total investment of Sh26.3 billion.

On the political front, the Deputy President encouraged unity within the ODM party under its new leader, Dr. Oburu Oginga, following the legacy of the late former Prime Minister, Raila Amolo Odinga. Governor Gladys Wanga echoed this sentiment, affirming the community's unity and commitment to the broad-based government led by President Ruto and Prof. Kindiki.

Governor Wanga, also the ODM party national chair, emphasized the party's strategy for upcoming by-elections, supporting broad-based candidates across various regions. She called for party members to remain steadfast, protecting Raila Odinga's legacy and supporting the current administration.

The event saw attendance from several MPs and government officials, including Homa Bay Women Rep Joyce Osogo, Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa, and PS Raymond Omollo, among others.
