Post: Embu Leaders Warn of Potential Anarchy Due to Gen Z-Led Protests

Embu: A section of Embu leaders has warned that the ongoing Gen Z-led protests could plunge the country into anarchy. Led by Senator Alexander Mundigi, the leaders said the past protests have proven to be detrimental to both the economic and social fabric of the country.

According to Kenya News Agency, Senator Mundigi highlighted that if left unchecked, the protests, which have already led to loss of lives and massive looting, could reverse the gains made so far. He emphasized the potential long-term impact on the country's economy and social wellbeing, stating, "What has taken us decades to build in terms of economy and social wellbeing could be lost forever if we are not careful."

Speaking at St. Peter's Anglican Church of ACK Church in Siakago, Mbeere North Constituency, Mundigi urged the youth to resist being manipulated by politicians for political gains. He accused certain opposition figures of instigating the chaos and called on those organizing protests for Saba Saba Day on July 7th to reconsider their plans for the sake of national peace.

Simultaneously, Senator Mundigi pressed the Government to take legal action against those responsible for looting and destruction during the recent protests. He expressed concern over the negative impact on the recovering economy and insisted that perpetrators face legal consequences.

Retired NICA Church Bishop, Njeru Nyaga, supported Mundigi's statements and urged the Government to engage meaningfully with the youth. He condemned the criminal acts committed under the guise of protests and stressed the importance of maintaining peace. Bishop Nyaga acknowledged the validity of the youth's concerns but insisted that violence was not the answer, urging both the government and the youth to work towards peaceful solutions.
