Post: Ennahdha’s secret apparatus case: Hearing set for August 1 (Court Spox)

Tunis: The indictment division specialised in terrorism cases at the Tunis Court of Appeal has set a hearing for August 1 in the case of the Ennahdha movement's secret apparatus, said Court Spokesperson Habib Torkhani.This case had been referred to the Tunis Court of Appeal on July 16, 2024, after the investigating judge at the judicial counter-terrorism division had closed the investigation on July 15, he told TAP, adding that the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Tunis Court of First Instance had appealed against the decision to close the investigation into all the defendants.This case involves 35 defendants, including 5 arrested in connection with this case, 7 arrested in connection with other cases, 12 at large and 11 others on the run.The defendants include Rached Ghannouchi (arrested), Ali Laarayedh, Fethi El Beldi, Kamel Bedoui, Atef Omrani (arrested in connection with other cases), Mustapha Khedher and Kamel Aifi (on the run).In September 2023, the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Ariana Cour t of First Instance referred the case of the Ennahdha movement's "secret apparatus" to the judicial counter-terrorism division.This case was brought at the beginning of 2022 following a complaint lodged by the Public Prosecutor's Office and the defence team of Chokri Belaïd and Mohamed Brahmi, assassinated in February and July 2013, respectively.Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
